And now your Lake County Fielders
With the hockey season officially over in Chicago, and our local professional baseball teams not living up to expectations (thats an argument waiting to happen), I am looking forward to the new team coming to Lake County.
Coming next summer, the Lake County Fielders will be playing ball in nearby Zion. They will be in the same league as the Schaumburg Flyers.
Field of Dreams star, Kevin Costner, will be the owner of the Northern League team. Besides the Flyers, the Fielders will be visiting Joliet, IL, and Gary, IN. As well as in Kansas City, KS, Fargo, ND, and Winnipeg, Canada.
For the record, I will be trying out for a role in the Press Box as an announcer. If not, I will settle for being a DJ. Interviewing does not start till next spring.
For more information visit the Lake Country Fielders website.
Play Ball!

White Sox Adventure
Yeah, yeah. No post for a while. Well, in order to do a post, I need to be out on the bike. I am guessing that I maybe have half the miles on the bike this year that I rode last year. Oh well. It has been one busy summer.
Since I have no bike pictures worth posting, I figured I would put up a White Sox video. This in the Intro to a White Sox home game that you see at the ballpark.
Speaking of, I went to the game last night to watch the Sox clinch the Division. It was the best game of the season with a score of 1 -0 over the Twinkies. Jim Thome's smashing home run is all they needed to get into the post season.
All right. So I know all the Cubs fans think the Sox will choke. The Sox are not the same team that they were in 2005. Our bullpen sucks and that is nothing new. One thing for sure, the Sox showed last night, they have what it takes to play in the post season. Unfortunately, we have to play in Tampa, in a DOME where the Sox are not favorable. Well, for this Sox fan, I am sitting back in this roller coaster ride.
Will it be a Sox Cub World Series? Most likely not but this is baseball. Anything can happen.

Hey Chicago, What Do You Say?
All right. I have held back long enough. If you are a baseball fan in Chicago, you must be loving right now unless you are cheering for some other team. Cardinal fans, I will send you some tissue now that the Brewers closed the deal on CC Sabathia.
For the record, I am not going to bash the Cubs or Cubs fans (besides having a little fun with the image above). How can I pick on the Cubs when they have one of the best records in baseball? They certainly have the best offense with the scoring machines that they bought. Then they go out and get an ace of a pitcher today with Rich Harden of Oakland.
Rich Harden? Wasn't he on the DL this year? OK, so it was a short time but leave it to the Cubs to get a pitcher who is injury prone. I mean really. What do the Cubs have to lose? In my mind, it is worth the gamble. No injuries and Hayden keeps performing with his current stats? The Cubs are that much closer to breaking the curse.
With the Sox finding ways to stay on top of the AL Central, lot of buzz lately about a subway World Series here in Chicago. I could not imagine how crazy the Windy City would be. I think the fans will finally get the chance to say "Put Up or Shut Up".
I already know the taunting will be at a whole new high.. or low depending what stunt you are going to pull like burning your teams logo in the grass. You never know, we could have snow during the World Series. You may spray paint your favorite team on your neighbors snowy lawn. All I know is that I want to see both teams get there. The cross town classic did nothing to settle the arguement of which team is better.
Lets play the best of seven and see who comes out on top. All I know is that it's not going to be pretty. Let the best team win!
