You Have Crossed the Line!
This picture was taken at the Deals Gap where I just got back from. I don't know if the word "often" is correct here but this kind of thing happens more than you think. Due to the technical nature of this road, it is very important to stay in your lane.
Remember, you are turning every tenth of a mile for eleven miles. Most corners are blind here. This attributes to inexperience, speed and not looking through the turn.
From my experience, I was looking at the farthest part of the road just to see where I was going. A few hairpin turns had me looking over my shoulder just to make it. They are that tight folks.
A while back, I was almost hit by another motorcycle here locally. A cruiser decided to take a turn too fast and ended up in my line. I can tell you the name of his saddle bags. He was that close.
This past spring, I went for a lunch ride with some co-workers. I watched one of them bounce their bike off the curb due to taking the turn to wide, from a dead stop, and getting fixated on the curb. Luckily, the rider was able to regain control.
The point here is, like they teach you in riders class, LOOK THROUGH THE TURN. If you are going to go sightseeing, get in the cage and pack the family up. You may be doing yourself a favor.
The point here is to pay attention and look through the turns. Class dismissed.
