Another Busy Weekend in the Books

Sure, it's the front of my house. Just like the truck I bought.

Whew! I went to bed last night exhausted. Let's see. Here is a rewind of the weekend.....

Saturday: Trent and I cut the grass. It was the first one of the year. Trent likes to follow behind me and push his toy mower. He really likes doing it. I am sure when he is a teenager; I will have to keep after him to keep up on the lawn.

Jenn had a dance performance Saturday evening so she went to a dance mate’s house to practice in the afternoon. Although Hannah slept most of the afternoon, I still entertained Trent. That kid is non-stop energy.

After the dance, I went to a neighbor’s house to play a gruesome all nighter game of Candy Land. I finally made it past Gum Drop Mountain!

Sunday: Knowing I would be out late from the night before, it was not my intentions to go out with Bandit Brother Matt on Sunday morning. That is until I woke up from the sounds of Matt's bike warming up and the smell of Jenn cooking bacon for breakfast. Even if it was not Matt’s bike that woke me up, the smell of bacon gets me every time. I was awake!

Being a little after 8:30 and having breakfast, I decided to get changed and head out to Full Moon on 41 for the weekly bike meet up. Besides Matt and Scott being there, Matt's friend Rich showed along with Sean Murphy from my old job.

Matt and Rich were going to head out towards Lake Geneva. I wanted to be back by noon so I headed out around 10 and did my "loop" in Wisconsin. I found that from Antioch at 173 and 59, my loop up north is about 45 miles. It consists of mostly rural farms area’s that does not see much traffic. Besides being in the Wilmot area, I did not come up one car in front of me. It was a good bike ride.

I made it back by noon with a minute to spare. I come in and Trent wants to go out. With a quick lunch, Trent and I headed to the backyard for some baseball hitting practice. Unlike Brubakers kids, Trent has a natural form. He loves to play and mimics what he see's on TV. Let's hope he is better than his Daddy when he starts playing organized ball. Playing baseball just never clicked with me.

After 30 minutes, Trent was red in the face and figured it was good time for him to take a nap. I would have liked one as well but I promised Jenn that I would do an oil change on her car as well as replace the wipers. It was one of those promises that if I did not deliver, I would have been sleeping on the couch due to putting it off for so long.

Of course the oil change involved a trip to the part store. I came up more than just a filter and wipers. I HAD to buy some microfiber towels and mitt to wash the bike with. Nothing but the softest materials for my bike. If you wash your vehicle by hand, I highly recommend the microfiber towels. They do a much better job than chamois and they are not linty like a bath towel.

After the oil change, I did wash the bike. By this time, Trent was awake and wanted to play again. I slowed him down by showing him how to wish his toy car. He liked it and I was able to clean the bike.

Trent and I then went to the backyard again to hit some balls but the wind picked up. It is a little difficult to throw a whiffle ball in the wind. We kicked the soccer ball instead.

Then it was time for dinner. I grilled burgers while Matt and Vickie entertained Trent in the front yard. Matt introduced Trent to the wonderful world of water balloons.

After dinner, took a shower, headed out to get ice cream and then watched Sopranos. That wraps up the weekend.

Are you tired from just read all that? That sometimes is a typical weekend at the Gillette household.
