Austins PreShow Ride or Pick On Josh Post
Today was an unusual day but a good one. First, the weather was excellent. I have been looking forward to a day like this all winter. Getting together with friends, catching up, and going for a ride.
You can tell the single guys from the married guys. The married guys are up at the crack of dawn. Sleeping in is anything past 7:00. Single guys are trying to figure out who is in bed with them at 7:00 AM. Married guys, show up on time. Single guys show up when they roll out of bed, with the help of a call or two. OK, I could go on but then Josh would start taking it personally. Sorry, Josh. You ran late and I have ammo. It's all good.
As the last paragraph stated, we all waited on Josh to start our day. With a good breakfast at WildBerry's, in Libertyville, we went up the street to Austins Saloon. We pulled in across the street to see if a bike show was going to take place. As luck would have it, they were setting up tables and staging for something to happen. Being early in the morning, ok, almost 10, the group conscientious was to go for a ride.
I lead the group to Burlington. About 10 minutes out, Josh realized he may turn into a pumpkin if he rides his Harley for more then 2 hours so he returned home.
I usually take a dedicated route consisting of scenic views and some twisties but that all changed. We were heading into Wilmot and caught up to three Harley riders. They were doing way under the speed limit. I think they were trying out for the local Shriners Parade. Knowing that there would be nowhere to pass them, I changed up the route a bit. I will pat myself on the back with another good choice.
Once in Burlington, the group split up due to other commitments. That left Scottie and P-Dub. We decided to go back to Austins to check things out. To my surprise, they had a real good turn out. Check out my next post on the show that didn't happen.
