Bike Trip Detour, Maybe

As most of you know, I am a sports fanatic. I love them all. Rather it's my Bears to golf to Nascar, I can be easily entertained. Next weekend, my trip "Loopin' The Lake" could be postponed pending on where Barry Bonds is on the Home Run chase.

I know, sounds crazy that I put everything on hold for a baseball game, but it is hard to explain what it is like to be part of something big. Going to see game 2 of the World Series when Konerko hits the Grand Slam really does rank up there with the birth of my two kids. It is that special feeling that you can't put into words.

If you have seen the movie *61 and tear up when Mark Maguire is talking at the post conference about putting his bat next to Roger Maris in the Hall of Fame then you probably get it. If not, it is OK. I am sure you are passionate about something else.

With all that said, Barry Bonds is six home runs shy of breaking Hank Aaron's career home run record. A week from today, the Giants will be in St. Louis for a three game series. If Barry gets hot this week and I think there is a remote chance that the record will be broken, I will be heading south to be a part of history. Great thing about riding solo is that I can change my plans at any given time.

As a heads up, eleven games from now, the Giants will face the Cubs here in Chicago and then up to Milwaukee. Man, did I take the wrong time to leave my company when I had all that vacation time. Not that I regret leaving but it would be easier to get the time off. I will be making some of the night games between Chicago and Milwaukee for sure. Now we just wait and see what Bonds will do.

PS
I know my new co-workers and manager found my blog. The secret is out. Hope you enjoy it. And to my manger, I know I don't have any time off to get to a day game so I will not be asking. Is that a cold I feel coming on?
