Bike Report Day 1, Part 1: Let's Go See Indiana

WOW! I am back on Sunday afternoon. Safe and Sound. Wet and Cold. I have a lot to tell so I think I am I am going to break this up by each day. I hope you enjoy the following as much as I had fun on this trip.

Matt , Pat, and I gear up and discuss our plan of attack for our weekend get away.

The three of us met in Round Lake and headed out at 9:30 in the morning, Friday. Blue skies, sunny, and just a tad cool for riding. We are off. The first unscheduled stop came 30 minutes into the ride.

As I was on 294, north of
Willow, I was getting ready to switch lanes. A middle aged man came along side of me in a SUV with his window down shouting something at me and shaking his finger in my direction.

I am thinking great, I already caused road rage and I don't know what I did. When I looked back at him again, I make out that he is telling me that my rear luggage is about to fall off my bike. Whew. I gave him a thumbs up and pulled over.

The downside to this is Matt and Pat was in front of me. They had no idea I pulled over. Once on the shoulder, I quickly got the bungee cords back on, tighter, and raced back on to the highway.

I figured the two would eventually notice that I was missing. It was a few miles but there they were waiting for me on the side of the road. It was all good and we were back on the road

Somehow I missed the Welcome sign into Indiana but hey, we are here and luggage is still intact as it was for the rest of the trip. The interesting thing about Indiana's Welcome Center is that they have Chicago's nostalgic displays including an exhibit of John Dillinger at the Biograph Theater. The gift shop also included a Green Bay Packer hat. That's all I had to see. Time to take the gang south.

This was a common site for us.

Gas stops were more frequent. While Matt and I have five gallon tanks, Pat has a three and half gallon tank on his cruiser. At least I know I would not run out of gas first.

Yours Truly

The above was in the rest room of where we stopped for gas and lunch. It is a shoe and boot cleaner. It has buffer wheels on the bottom. I am easily amused. Unfortunately, the two other strangers at the urinal did not think the same. No fighting occurred.
