Bike On The Brain

New Bags On The Bike

Even though I like winter, I am officially done with it. Forecast says chance of flurries on Tuesday. Get past that and it looks we might get weather above freezing. Let's hope that is the last of it.

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about just getting on my Bandit and just ride. I want to get that first ride done. With the exceptions of my plates not being in, I am think I am geared and ready to go.

This past week, I came across new forum called Adventure Rider. I have read other forums but this site seems to be the real deal of riders. It is a site with numerous posts on long bike rides. The one I am currently reading is about a young man, from Texas, who got fed up at work, quit, and decided to go tour the country on his bike. It is just amazing the real stories he encounters and the reality of break downs with no pick up vehicle behind you like you see on these bike shows. The big hurdle he had to encounter was engine failure. Does he end the trip and go home? Does he get it fixed? You have to read it yourself to see the rest..

I even had a dream about my bike. I meant to tell Matt this today, but in my dream, Matt’s bike was down and he needed transportation. He called me and I said go get my bike to ride since he lives across the street and also rides an older version of what I own now. Then Matt shows up to where I am at, in my dream, on my bike. As he leaves me, Matt decides to pull a stunt on my bike, which is not like Matt, and he crashes my bike. I actually woke up really mad and wanted to call to yell at him but then I realized it was just a dream.

Today, Matt and I went to the local bike dealer to look at some new gloves for me. Instead, I came home with a new oil filter and four quarts of oil for my bike.

Then I proceeded to place my new bags on my bike. I then got on the bike with the center stand down. After adjusting the mirrors for the first time, I did a little day dreaming about riding on a warm sunny day.

This afternoon, I found one of my favorite mini series on TV called "Long Way Around”. A documentary covers Ewan McGregor and his friend as they travel around the world on motorcycles.

As I watch the final episode of the "Long Way Around" marathon, I end this blog and look forward to another cold dreaded week at work, just to get me to the warm weather and my first date with my bike.
