About a year ago, maybe longer, I ran into some car issues on my 2000 Mercury Sable. The engine light was flashing and basically the coils were toast. Thanks to my friendly dealer telling me to drive up for repair, the bad coils caused all three of my catalysts converters to go bad. Long story short, the dealer blamed me for driving the car with the faulty coils causing the exhaust to go bad. I hate Dealer repair shops.
If I take it to a Ford Dealer, the cost for each cat would cost around $600 per cat. You do the math. At the time, I got one repaired so it will run but I get terrible gas mileage. I decided to live with it and only drive the car when needed.
Now it is Air Inspection time and I failed the test. The tests show that it is my cats. With the help of Matt, he found some after market converters for over half the price off. That was a no brainer. I am going to take it to a local shop to get one installed.
The picture above is the part that I ordered. When I got home today, that was laying next to my door AS IS. It was not in a box or anything. I can't believe it was shipped like that. I guess that’s what I get for cheap fast shipping. The company slogan should be "Shipping So Fast, We Don't Have Time to Box It."
